Carmi-White County CUSD #5
Return to Learn & Continuity of Services Plan
August 2022
Introduction
Carmi-White County CUSD #5 is excited to welcome students back for another school year. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students, staff, and community throughout the challenges we have faced together over the past several years. Thanks to your input, we were able to make several changes within our district. Over the past 6 months, we have been able to add additional nursing, social work, and academic staff. Additionally, we have added additional staff to support our most vulnerable students with special needs. Recently, we provided summer school opportunities and updated our technology supports. To improve our core instruction, we are in the process of implementing a new math curriculum and trauma-informed practices. We are again seeking your input by providing a survey at the end of this document. Please read our required Continuity of Services Plan before completing this survey, in order to provide your input. Carmi-White County CUSD #5 schools will open on Monday, August 15th for another great school year! #BulldogPride

reminding everyone in the facility to wash hands frequently
using hand sanitizer
providing adequate handwashing and hand sanitizer supplies
continuing to teach respiratory etiquette (e.g., covering coughs and sneezes)
3. Facility and Transportation Cleaning, Disinfection, and Ventilation
School custodial staff and transportation staff will continue to clean surfaces daily. Maintenance staff will continue to regularly replace school ventilation system filters by using high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters where applicable.
4. COVID Testing and Contact Tracing
Individuals who test positive for COVID must remain home for five days and can return when they are 24 hours vomiting, diarrhea, and fever free. Diagnostic testing for symptomatic students and staff is available upon request. Schools are no longer required to conduct contact tracing.
Respecting peoples’ varying levels of vaccine confidence, those who want to get vaccinated against COVID-19 can visit the Egyptian Health Department’s website at egyptian.org or vaccines.gov to find out where they can get vaccinated. You may want to first consult with your medical provider.
5. Disabilities or Other Health Care Needs
Parents of students who need accommodations, modifications, or assistance related to COVID-19 safety protocols, disabilities, underlying medical conditions, or weakened immune systems should contact their student’s principal and/or special education coordinator to discuss the need(s).
6. Collaboration with Public Health Officials
Schools will continue to cooperate with local health department officials.
7. Continuity of Services
To ensure continuity of services, school work missed during an absence can be requested and made up in accordance with the school’s policy (refer to the student handbook); social, emotional, mental health, or other needs will be provided in accordance with a student’s IEP or 504 Plan. Parents of students who have social, emotional, mental health, or other needs outside of an IEP or 504 Plan should contact their child’s principal to discuss needs. Remote instruction will only be made available for students who are under isolation for Covid-19.
