RE: 3rd Quarter, 4th Quarter, Semester Exam, Semester Grades & Updates
We have successfully completed the Third Quarter at CWCHS and we cannot be more thankful to our students, families, staff, and community for everything that everyone has done to continue and help us be so successful. Everyone has worked together to ensure that our students can learn and be successful in a safe learning environment.
The Fourth Quarter began on Monday, March 8th. We just want to share some updates and reminders for the fourth quarter and the rest of the semester. We want to work together to ensure that all of our students are successful! Please contact us with any questions!
4th Quarter Learning-
7th-12th Parents/Guardians, Please notify the Jr/Sr. High office by Friday, March 5th if your student’s current Learning Preference status will change for the 4th quarter. The deadline to switch to F/F learning from Remote Learning will be on Friday, March 12th. In-person instruction is highly encouraged. Students may be switched to Remote Learning at any point during the second quarter for safety reasons, but must remain remote for the rest of the semester.
Reminder- All students that are F/F or Remote have access to Extra/Co-curricular activities. School activities that take place during school hours are only available to F/F students. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Report Cards-
The Third Quarter ends on Friday, March 5th and Report Cards will be mailed home on Friday, March 12th. We want to make sure that all of our students are successful and understand the importance of meeting all of the above requirements. We do not want our students to fall behind and have to re-take classes.
Grading System-
Assuming classwork is finished; the following formula will be used to determine the final semester grade:
1st Quarter =40% (2/5)
2nd Quarter =40% (2/5)
Semester Exam =20% (1/5)
Semester Grade =100>#/p###
* In order to receive credit students must complete all work, meet all classroom expectations, and pass 2 of the 3 grading periods/exam to receive credit for the semester. Students who do not meet these requirements will receive an (F) and be required to retake the class for credit.
Semester Exams-
All students are normally required to take final exams both semesters. However, the following guidelines will apply this semester because of the current circumstances. (Exam Dates & Requirements will be shared later)
1- Students will only be required to take exams if they receive an “F” in a class for either quarter.
2- Students with split grades can voluntarily take exams (i.e. B/A) & are encouraged to take exams in an effort to earn a higher grade. If a student with a split grade does not choose to take the exam they will receive the lower quarter grade.
3- Failure to take a required exam in any class will result in the loss of credit for the semester in that class.
4- Teachers maintain the option to require exams for all students in a class.
5- Following First Semester Guidelines, all exams must be completed Face to Face.
Graduation Requirements-
All graduation requirements remain in effect. Students must have a minimum of 23 credits, meet all state/district course requirements, complete the SAT and FAFSA requirements. Failure to complete these requirements will result in a student not being able to graduate.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, March 17th from 3:30-6:30 pm at the Jr/Sr High School. A link to schedule appointments with teachers in their classrooms will be shared on our website/app.
Appointments will be in ten minutes increments in classrooms. Social distancing, facemasks, and symptom checks are required. Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions.
