The Carmi-White Co. CUSD 5 Board of Education is conducting a search for a new superintendent. The selection of a new superintendent is probably the most important decision a board of education has to make; therefore, the Board has hired the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist in this process.
The Board of Education is seeking everyone’s input in the search process. The Board requests that all board members, all staff, all parents and community members complete an online survey provided by the IASB. The results will be tallied and used by the Board and Screening Team to develop a brochure to advertise the position.

There is a water leak in front of Washington School by the cross walk. The road is open but very congested. The north cross walk will be closed.
Every Carmi district student received a Carmi Elves form regarding shoes, shirt, and a haircut. Please complete and return the form by Friday, August 27th ONLY if there is a need for those items for your child. If you have any questions, please call your child's school building. If someone in your home is being tested for COVID-19, then all students in that home must quarantine until test results are back, except for vaccinated students who are asymptomatic. #BulldogPride
Jefferson Back to School Night is Thursday, Aug. 12! Come and go from 6:00-7:30 and please bring school supplies. We hope that all will come because we will ask parents to drop off students at the door starting on Monday. Students will be escorted to class by school staff! School begins on Aug. 16 at 8:15 a.m. (students can arrive as early as 7:30). The first week of attendance will be a 50 minute early dismissal (8/16-8/20 we dismiss at 2 pm). Starting Monday, Aug. 23 we will dismiss daily at 2:50 pm. We can't wait to make every moment matter this year! #BulldogPride

On-line registration for the Carmi-White County Unit #5 School District opens on Monday, August 2nd through Thursday August 5th. All students must register using the online system (even those who pre-registered for Kindergarten). Please go to carmischools.org and click on the "registration" tab to begin. This can best be accomplished via a computer. If you need in-person assistance with the registration process, you can visit any of our buildings on Thursday, August 5th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The first day of school for students will be on Monday, August 16th. #BulldogPride.

Egyptian Health would like district students and staff to join in supporting National Children's Health Awareness Day on Thursday, May 6 by everyone wearing GREEN.
Also they are inviting district families to drive through Jefferson Attendance Center on Thursday, May 6 from 4 to 6 pm to receive a bag from Egyptian Health Department employees. The bag will contain various resources for students & families. #BulldogPride

Due to weather conditions, all Unit #5 schools will be closed for face-to-face instruction on Thursday, February 18th & Friday, February 19th. Remote Instruction will be utilized for both days. Students may log into their Google accounts to communicate with their teacher or teachers. Our youngest students have had instructional packets sent home with them previously. Any Unit #5 students wanting meals for Thursday or Friday should pick them up at the Junior/Senior High School back parking lot between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. in the morning. #Bulldog Pride
